Obscure player identity
Goal here is to use the character names from the original game board for all player-display purposes.
- On the board where the player name is displayed
- Chat
I'm pretty sure the actual player name will need to be preserved everywhere else in order for all the authentication and other book keeping to stay sensible (I may be wrong).
In branch 'role-fix', the game has been modified to accept the lobby \new
request with role mappings. That is, instead of sending
/new?player1=biff@globalecco.org& ...
The lobby will use the query parameters to identify the color the user will take.
/new?Orange=biff@globalecco.org& ...
This breaks the developer setup with the fake lobby (as it is today).
BUT, assuming the actual player name is preserved and the only place we use the "Character Names" is in display context, I think it will be safe to address this request by doing the development in the 'develop' branch, and then merge it over to 'role-fix' until there is a local dev setup that understands the role-mapping way to make the /new
request.
