Gryphon may be run on Windows by using VirtualBox and emulating Linux. In this example we show how to run Gryphon on the Centos 8 operating system hosted on a x86-64 Windows system.

|
|
|
|
|
|
1. Download and install VirtualBox from https://www.virtualbox.org/.
|
|
|
|
1. Download the zipped .7z compressed 64-bit virtual image of Centos 8.3 from https://www.osboxes.org/centos/ into the Downloads folder.
|
|
|
|
1. Unzip it to get the "CentOS 8.3 (64bit).vdi" file.
|
|
|
|
1. Start VirtualBox. On some hardware platforms, virtualization may need to be enabled first in the BIOS before VirtualBox can run.
|
|
|
|
1. Create the new Centos 8 virtual machine:
|
|
|
|
* Click “New”: 
|
|
|
|
* In the Name and operating system type in "Centos 8" for the name and click "Next":
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|

|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
* In the Memory size window use the default value and click "Next".
|
|
|
|
* In the Hard disk window click “Use an existing virtual hard disk file” and then click the folder icon  to select the .vdi file as the hard disk.
|
|
|
|
* In the Hard Disk Selector window click Add  and navigate to the .vdi file and select it. It is likely at Downloads/64bit/CentOS 8.3 (64bit).vdi. Then in the Hard Disk Selector window, select the CentOS 8.3 (64bit).vdi image and click "Choose". Then in the Hard disk window, select the image. Once selected, it should look like this:

|
Click "Create".
|
|
|
|
* Now that the Centos 8 virtual machine is set, its button shows up in the VirtualBox window:

|
|
|
|
|
|
|

|
|
|
1. Double-click this button to power up the Centos 8 Operating System.
|
|
|
|
1. Login as user `osboxes.org` user using password `osboxes.org`.
|
|
|
|
1. Perform the MP Gryphon installation for Centos 8 as described at https://gitlab.nps.edu/monterey-phoenix/user-interfaces/gryphon/-/wikis/home#installing-gryphon. |
